[Translate to English:] intro
Gold, rock crystal and diamonds seem to want to outshine each other in the treasury of August the Strong, which he built between 1723 and 1730. Today, old and new coalesce in the Grünes Gewölbe at the Residenzschloss: While the Historisches Grünes Gewölbe (Historic Green Vault) allows visitors to immerse themselves in the authentically restored rooms of the treasury, the Neues Grünes Gewölbe (New Green Vault) shows selected exhibits, impressively illuminated behind glass.
Neues Grünes Gewölbe
The Neues Grünes Gewölbe directs the gaze of the viewer onto numerous outstanding objects presented in air-conditioned showcases with anti-glare glass, which were developed specifically for this presentation. Famous objects as the carved cherry stone, Dinglinger’s “Royal Household of the Grand Mogul Aureng-Zeb” and the 41-carat Green Diamond can be viewed only here.

history
The room dissolves into reflections, light glimmers, gold and precious stones sparkle. The Historisches Grünes Gewölbe (Historic Green Vault) almost makes you dizzy. This was exactly the effect that August the Strong (1670-1733) intended when, between 1723 and 1730, he realised his vision of a baroque Gesamtkunstwerk as an expression of wealth and power.
